Certificates of Chimney Sweeping Issued

Sweep Certificates for Insurance Purposes Issued.


We are a Company that cleans your Stove, Aga, Rayburn, Fireplace and Hearth as part of our Sweep Service. We also carry most spare parts and sundries with us, i.e. Rope Seals, Flue Seals, Refractory Mortar, Mesh etc.

Clear Chimney Services lay a heavy duty tarpaulin sheet for the front of the hearth and soot cloths to shield the fireplace and retain the soot behind.

Particularly on wet days or where there are light carpets we  lay a trail of old sheets from door to the fireplace to walk on and invariably remove our shoes.

Please remember to move any items from the mantel piece and hearth and remove any un-burnt fuel on the fire.

We will be using state of the art chimney sweeping equipment. Please feel free to ask any questions relating to your fire or chimney.

Remember to see the brush out of the top of the chimney and make a wish. Although we cannot guarantee the wish, we can guarantee we have swept the chimney correctly.You may wish to keep the removed soot for gardening use.

When the chimney sweeping is completed you will be left with a clean chimney and advice from your cheerful chimney sweep together with a Chimney Sweeping Report for insurance purposes, should you so request. 

A chimney stack, pot and any cowls should be able to withstand a chimney sweeping, in the unlikely event that for any reason a pot or cowl breaks or becomes dislodged during this process we cannot take any responsibility. Although due to experience with rod height and feel, this has not happened to date.

However, in the unlikely event of an accident Clear Chimney Services will endeavour to replace and repair at a reduced charge to the home owner.

After our visit

At times during a visit, we might bring to your attention the fact we are concerned with what we have found. It may be something very simple, or it might be a more serious issue, but we will always leave you a notification of the defects and the way in which it can be resolved. If it is something we are able to carry out for you, we might discuss costs at this time. Either way, we will ask you for a signature to ensure we have a proof of telling you about the defects. We will strive to leave the appliance and flue in an operational state, but this is not always possible if the fault is more serious. At all times, your safety is paramount, so please ensure to comply with the instructions of any notifications and ensure the work is carried out to remedy any defects.

It is not uncommon to have small amounts of debris falling from the flue after sweeping, as the chimney settles. We would encourage you to check within 24 - 48 hours any dampers, throat plates, baffles etc. to make sure they are clear. This should be a monthly check anyway. If you ask during our visit, we will often make a note to call and remind you nearer the time the flue is due to be swept. 

Scheduling In during the Summer months is better than waiting until the Autumn when everyone is in a clamour for our services and appointment Booking and waiting times do increase.
