Inglenook fireplaces and chimneys are by their nature difficult to sweep and clean effectively due to the large hearth and chimney opening, which can sometimes extend up to the majority of the chimney height.

The problem with sweeping is that brush sizes carried by most chimney sweeps as standard are insufficient in diameter to make contact with all four sides of the chimney brickwork simultaneously all the way up or down. Indeed with rod flex, only patches of brickwork will be cleaned leaving areas of dangerous combustible material in the chimney.
